A Dose of Puppy Love for Saint Thomas Patients
Cathy Burge loves her dog Zack. She takes him on car rides, the park, even various events. She also takes him to the hospital. Burge is a volunteer at Saint Thomas Midtown in Nashville and brings Zack with her to the inpatient rehabilitation floor.
Patients there are going through really hard times with their health, but for about an hour every Tuesday afternoon, they put their pain to the side in exchange for a smile when Zack comes to visit. The 12-year-old golden retriever walks in, allows the patients to give him a treat, and proceeds to shake their hand with his paw. How a simple visit from this animal brings a smile to everyone's face and the story behind Cathy's visits with Zack to Saint Thomas Midtown.
